Eng. Desmond Barongo Nyagwoka, PE, MIEK, MACEK-FI, is a seasoned Civil Engineer with over 14 years of progressive professional experience in the planning, design, supervision, construction management, and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Kenya.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to the successful delivery of hundreds of engineering projects, providing technical leadership in engineering design, project planning, construction supervision, contract administration, project management, quality assurance, procurement support, stakeholder engagement, and institutional leadership. His extensive experience spans the water, transportation, aviation, structural, buildings, and public infrastructure sectors, where he has consistently championed engineering solutions that promote sustainable development, enhance service delivery, and improve the quality of life for communities.
He currently serves as a Principal Superintending Engineer with the County Government of Nyamira, where he provides technical leadership in the planning, implementation, supervision, and management of public infrastructure programmes. His responsibilities include policy implementation, strategic project coordination, contract management, technical oversight, and ensuring value for public investment through efficient, accountable, and professional engineering practice.
Beyond his technical responsibilities, Eng. Desmond is deeply committed to professionalism, ethical leadership, good governance, mentorship, and the advancement of the engineering profession in Kenya. He is also pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at the University of Nairobi, complementing his engineering expertise with legal knowledge relevant to governance, infrastructure regulation, public procurement, contract administration, and public policy.
