Eng. Dr. Damaris K. Oyaro is a distinguished Civil, Water and Environmental Engineer, accomplished academic, and engineering leader with over 15 years of professional experience spanning engineering practice, academia, research, and professional leadership.
She currently serves as an Ordinary Council Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and is a Fellow of IEK, reflecting her commitment and contribution to the advancement of the engineering profession in Kenya. She is also professionally affiliated with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) finalist.
Dr. Oyaro holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science in Sanitary Engineering from Leibniz University Hannover, Germany, and a Doctorate in Civil Engineering from the University of Nairobi.
She is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering at the University of Nairobi, where she contributes to engineering education, research, mentorship, innovation, and the development of the next generation of engineers.
Her technical expertise is anchored in Water, Sanitation and Environmental Engineering, with a strong commitment to sustainable infrastructure, water resources management, environmental protection, climate resilience, and engineering solutions that improve communities and livelihoods.
Beyond technical excellence, Dr. Oyaro is passionate about professional mentorship, women and youth in engineering, academia–industry collaboration, innovation, and strengthening the voice and visibility of engineers.
